2022 – Kyleigh B

Kyleigh B

Kyleigh B is from Elk Grove, California and is entering her sophomore year at Clark Atlanta University currently majoring in Business Administration. Kyleigh is the third scholarship winner in 2022 from the Sacramento area. This is a clear signal that passion for learning at HBCUs isn’t confined to one part of the country. Upon meeting Kyleigh, you immediately become aware of her fierce determination to succeed, both inside the classroom as well as in entrepreneurial pursuits and life in general. She is surrounded by supportive people who have had a great impact on her life including her mom and her Grammy, who connected her with Trajectory Foundation. When Kyleigh was 12, her dad was nearly fatally shot in a random act of gun violence while Kyleigh was in the house. He recovered, but Kyleigh’s experience threw her into stress and anxiety at a young age. When she reflects on this unfortunate and nearly tragic brush with gun violence, Kyleigh wrote that she “persevered because of my faith, devoted safety net, resiliency, and a personal commitment to outstanding achievement despite adversity and obstacles.” That perseverance and resiliency is apparent when you meet Kyleigh and will carry her through her college experience into her adult life. We are so proud to support her at CAU.
